Hi, my name is Ben and I am pleased to invite you to Seva House – a place of healing from the heart.

I started my journey in healing and therapy when I begun year 10 – way back in the 90’s. A family friend stayed at my parents house and told me about Psychology. Up til then I had no idea what I wanted to do, except for help people. Psychology, psychotherapy/ counselling and spirituality became central interests from that point on.

In 1996 I commenced University and whilst studying the mainstream academic Psychology curriculum I supplemented it with exploration of Eastern Mysticism, Jungian psychology, Yoga, Meditation groups, Healing circles, Sport ( cricket, surfing and basketball )  and my own therapy journey. I completed my undergraduate studies in psychology BA(Psyc) and Education Dip Ed ( Primary ) in 2000 and obtained my full registration as a psychologist in 2006 whilst working in public mental health and a small group private practice.  In 2007, I commenced a Clinical Psychology Degree MPsyc(Clin) completing my part time post graduate studies in 2015 with a novel project exploring the complexity of self ( ie parts and roles/ group memberships ) and how this is connected with creativity and wellbeing.

I am an accredited EMDR practitioner, a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, and a Safe and Sound Provider ( a poly vagal informed listening program). I am also a Level 2 Relational Life Therapist ( couples therapy ) and an Advanced Clinical Resource Therapy trainer ( parts work ).  I have studied somatic therapies including, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy as well as Poly Vagal informed therapy and I have over 10 years formal study of Process Oriented Psychology (developed by Jungian Psychologist Arnold Mindell) in Australia and across the world. I have a Diploma Clinical Hypnotherapy, a Certificate in Gestalt Therapy, and I have been a DBT practitioner with the Hunter Valley Mental Health team and run CBT groups for Depression through local mental health services. I have also done preliminary trainings in Reiki and Kinesiology. I am certified facilitator of The Circle of Security, Tuning into Kids and Tuning into Teens programs and I also have training in Mindful education.

I am a board approved Supervisor with AHPRA; I have supervised university students, 4 + 2 and 5 + 1  psychology interns, senior psychologists, social workers, counsellors and psychotherapists. I provide individual and group supervision and am working towards EMDR consultant accreditation with EMDRAA ( the Australian peak body for EMDR ).

My therapeutic method is primarily informed by EMDR and integrates attachment, poly vagal theory, parts work and system theories and dreamwork. I am excited to work with people who present with complex anxiety/ mood issues, as well as complex trauma, dissociation and struggles with purpose. I am also endlessly curious about neurodivergence and diversity issues ( gender, race, sexuality, class etc. ) I am also passionate about relationships and working with the challenges that present in couples and families. I primarily work with individual adults and couples, with some kiddos and parents just for fun. I also enjoy teaming up with other therapists / clinicians to share the creative work of supporting individuals and couples move beyond stuckness and return to relational health.
